2005-06 Racers 85, 1997-98 Racers 55

The 2005-06 Racers jumped out to a double-digit lead in the game's first 5 1/2 minutes
and never looked back, shocking the 1997-98 team 85-55.

Trey Pearson, Justin Orr and Shawn Witherspoon dropped in 3-pointers and Pearson Griffith
added a couple of inside baskets to give the 2005-06 team a 17-5 advantage in the game's
first 5:35 while the 1997-98 team started cold, missing nine of its first 11 shots and
going five minutes without a score.

Later with the 2005-06 team up 25-13, Tyler Holloway hit two 3-pointers during an 11-0 
run for a 36-13 lead with 3:53 left in the half before Isaac Spencer stopped the 
bleeding with a basket in the paint. The 2005-06 team led 43-17 at intermission.

It was more of the same in the second half, as the 2005-06 team never let up and built
its biggest lead, 79-43, on Darnell Hopkins' fastbreak layup with 3:52 left. 

Witherspoon led the 2005-06 Racers, who put five players in double-figure scoring,
with 14 points. Pearson and Orr each added 11, while Hopkins and Issian Redding scored 
10 each. Witherspoon and Griffith each grabbed eight rebounds.

De'Teri Mayes led all scorers with 21 points for the 1997-98 team, and Chad Townsend 
added 10. Spencer was held to four points on 1-of-6 field goal shooting, while fellow
starting forward Rod Murray was just 2-for-10.

The 2005-06 team will play the 1990-91 team in the semifinals.
